Handmade ornaments

A girlfriend and myself had a great idea of making ornaments every year for our family members. We had a good time doing this but over the years we stopped. I stumbled on a blog of a lady who made family ornaments and i thought, what an awesome tradition of making an ornament every year for each family member with a picture on it. How neat to see how everyone changes over the years and how neat it will be to pass on to my children when they have their own tree someday. So this year a new tradition was started. I have always used the photo frames from michaels to give each set of grandparents a pictured ornament of the kids but this is sooo much nicer! So each side got a gish family ornament. And of course i couldn't do all this work without making one with my dad on it. This was such a hard christmas without him but we got through it. He sure did make us a strong family. FAMILY was everything to him and i am grateful he showed us what that meant!!

Tutorial for this can be found at The crafting chick blog

halloween

here are a few Halloween pics of our family. every year we meet at my moms and trick or treat with friends. Khloe had the cutest mermaid costume that my mom finished about 2 hours before the party started:) and mason was his absolute favorite character Thomas the Train. The box got a little heavy half way around the neighborhood but he was a trooper with a few breaks:)

Foam Gingerbread House

I said after the Foam Halloween House I would wait til Mason was older to do something like that again. But when Michael's put the Christmas ones on sale for 3.99 I just couldn't resist. Mason had such a good time helping and was so proud of it, we had to do it again! So here it is, I had to help a little more on this one but he loved it, especially the little gingerbread man:)

Thanksgiving Art Work

Right Before Thanksgiving Leah and my mom came over to make a couple of craft projects with us. For Halloween we gave each grandparent a set of ghost feet so I felt I needed to find a project with a hand print this time. Below you will see the hand/arm fall tree. The dots are his finger prints, how cute...found this somewhere on the Internet. Mason enjoyed putting his entire arm and all of his fingers in the paint! For project number 2 well that's another story!
Okay so the turkey magnet was a little more difficult than I thought it would be for someone almost 3! The glue just didn't dry fast enough so I pretty much did this one:)

Easy Fall Crafts

Trying to stay inside as much as possible to avoid the H1N1 can get a little boring at times. So we have been trying to stay busy doing things at home. Mason loves to glue, but i am out of glue sticks which made the pumpkin project with Elmer's old fashion glue very sticky!! He loved it though and I was very impressed with how good he did (with a little assistance). The boo feet below has to be one of my favorites! The eyes are his pointer finger and the mouth is his thumb. I found this idea on the internet and it was sooooo easy. We made one for each set of grandparents and they loved them:) Now we have to do turkey handprints to go with the feet!

Halloween Fun and Treats

Mason and I had such a good time the week of Halloween. We stayed busy. We made Halloween necklaces, read books, ate Chocolate chip pumpkin pancakes, made rice krispie candy corn, put together treat bags for our friends and the kids at the Halloween party, and cooked spider web cupcakes. We had a great week!

Halloween Treats

Mason and i have been busy with Halloween treats. These were fun to make and sooooo simple. I bought the supplies needed from Michaels and have already purchased ones for christmas time:) More Halloween treat pictures to post, but now its almost time for trick-or-treating.
Not sure why the pictures are upside down and don't know how to fix them...Sorry!

Remember These?

I remember these from my childhood. Mason loved making these....well at least the first two then he just ate his sucker and handed me all the ones he didn't like to wrap. When we were all done he asked if he could save one for his little sister:)

Haunted House

The Holidays are always my favorite times of the the year. However, working in a florist makes it hard to truly enjoy them, which is why I think I always go all out for Halloween. Nobody sends flowers for Halloween. Mason and I have been doing Halloween crafts for a month now, but this is by far our biggest creation.. Our spooky house! I should have read the box a little more closely, it does say for 6 and up, but we managed to get through it with a lot of patience on my end:) It's not what the box pictures but as long as Mason gets to use his glue stick he is extremely happy! Mason is so proud of himself, now if I can just get him to stop pushing the door inside:)
